Monday Morning Star (EPP) count

Well I am just starting, it's Tuesday morning.  However we will act like its Monday... Now for my EPP push to tally. Leave it to Jess at life under quilts, the EPP queen to get everyone motivated to finish their EPP WIP.

So Sunday I pulled it out again and put together 3 sub stars.. Just 6 white 60 degree diamonds, that makes up the star.

This was begun in 2011 after seeing Jess's travel quilt.

So stay tuned for Monday's tally.

Happy stitching.

Dutch Rose Glutton

So.. In my previous post I noted how ridiculously challenging the Scrappy nickel Dutch rose block was for me.  Why?  Because somehow I always screw up the order of stitching, add the wrong square somewhere and end up having to take apart at least half the block more than 3 times..

So why would I go and make one of my own... And not because I have to for a bee block.  Because I am smoking fabric crack... That's why.

So Sunday night I found myself in my long forgotten charm box stash (not to be confused with the charm box drawer.). Breaking up packs to work for this block in a freaky pattern and color combo.

I figured if nothing else, practice makes perfect and a charity quilt is always an option...well I must say the first combo is not so bad.  Granted I see my mistakes, where things done line up.  I had to take apart half of the block, made mistakes.. But that's what this all about right??  True indeed..

So press on I shall say.. And here is the first of the whacky whimsical scrappy nickel Dutch rose blocks...

A Stitching Good Weekend

Good eve..

So in Friday i get an email from a dear friend with a link to Beautejadore's blog, showing me a dress that she made in 2 hours from a simple dress pattern and some tweaks.. (I will come back and add the link from my computer). Anyway never the less, Nikki's items were awesome.  Loved her style, fabric choice, everything. So nevertheless, I was like a kid in a candy store. She also posted about making a maxi dress in an hour... And it was all called DIY ...

Then I remembered all of the fabric I owned to do just that.. DIY dress, skirts etc.  so I rushed to pick up two patterns she used as a base and also bought some fabric to make some maxi dresses without a pattern.

Came he Friday eve, saw a bag that had some fabric I bought for a similar purpose... Yes fabric and more fabric.  So I began draping and pinning.  Then cut and stitched and I ended up with this lovely item within the hour.

I went on about my night.  Had a great eve, and night out.  By Saturday afternoon I decided to work with the other fabric I had.  Began the drape and pin and ended up with this.

Then I realized I was bee lazy and broke out my dress form... And then ended up here.

Them I took a break and by today decides to do something with the left over fabric and ended up with this lovely tee.  I cut the shape from existing top and them fudged the rest.  Lol

And that was a small part if my weekend.. East breezy...

That and I started my ClEAN program today ... Yummy shakes and clean meal for lunch..
Cinnamon roll in a glass

Seared tuna salad for lunch and

A yummy coconut chai shake for dinner..
And now time for bed...

Love my metro mod guild peeps

So yesterday was the last meeting of the year.  We meet every other month and I missed the April meeting (I have a standing yearly conflict.). Anyway, I as well as our fearless president are rolling off the board.  So of course I was part of the gift planning for Victoria... Include lovely V blocks in her favorite orange hue...

See mine below..

Anyway, we also rigged a faux silent auction for one of our group quilts that he really, really wanted.  We drove up the price amazingly high and she was insistent upon winning, only to find out it was going to be hers all along.  Heheh (insert sinister laugh here.)

Anyway... I was in for my own surprise.. I was included in the block making... And was gifted with all of these beautiful "E"s with more to come.

I looooveee them.  Of course sap that I am ... I was teary eyes.  My guild rocks... Thanks everyone.
