Brooklyn Brooklyn, Always Funky Fresh...

Ha, for anyone around in the 80s and a hip hop lover will remember the title.  Yes, I am raised Brooklyn and still lovingly claim it.

My friend Karla (Rochester, NY) was in town for our usual Spring Bar Association event.  She is also a quilter, and it was nice to have some events going on this weekend.  So it was a treat to head on out to Bay 44 near the water and see what the Brooklyn Guild was up to.

This weekend was their show.  I took  a few pics to follow.  I must say it was very interesting and eclectic in its make up.  I ran in to lots of quilty folks that I know from Empire and NYC Metro Mod.  It was an added treat for me.  I also saw some vendors that I knew and was able to participate in raffle type events.  Overall it was a wonderful Saturday.

Then..... Empire Guild had their Charity Sew In at City Quilter from 5-9pm.  So of course I was there.  I must say it was a lovely day had by all.

I even finished free motion quilting a piece in 35 minutes...Woo hoo, I had CQ's machines whirring away.  Enjoy the pics.  If you want more information on the quilter, etc. go on over to the Brooklyn Guild's site.  I am being lazy...smiles and enjoy.

Sewing Room to Guest Room

I must say, I am extremely thankful that I have a whole room to do exactly as I wish. Although, I must admit I always feel bad when guests are coming and I have to make it livable. Then I remember, it's primary purpose is for me to quilt, sew and create. And I think yippee. At least my futon is oh sooo comfortable.

I went to Ikea a few weeks ago and purchased the expedit. It was a smart move.

All cleaned up and ready for my legal/quilt buddy.

A Friday Drive...

I love when you take a day off, and it turns out to be so fantastic.  The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, hands were sewing, and we went on a quick road trip to the "Brownstone Quilters Guild" in Paramus.

If you pop over to Helen No Blog, you will find a cool pick of the colors in my "hood".

It was a day filled with quilts, Victoria and her wear and sew, sew and wear, wear do you sew .... Bobby Burger Palace (Bobby Flay's burger joint) and later that evening Luke's gallery opening.

Enjoy.

Cha-Ching... I Think

While popping in on the loving Queen Bumblebeans after watching the Hunger Games with the lovely "B", I was given some fabric.

I began chopping while I was standing there to ensure I would actually make something. This is what I made. I added the solids and created coins with the gifted fabric.

Now I need to quilt it. Any ideas?
