Since then I have been in a remove, renew and refresh mode in my home.<div><br></div><div>Something just hit and I ended up with some major changes in my home. It all began with the repairs to my kitchen and bath from the snow leak. And then next thing I knew, I was replacing and refreshing. It was much needed. Twelve years in the making.</div><div><br></div><div>So as a result, I have not spent much time in my studio. So I am now playing catchup... So here is what I have been working on.</div><div><br></div><div>I had to get started on my sizzix challenge quilt. This challenge uses all of Victoria Findlay Wolfe's sizzix templates. I chose the big DWR... And after drafting and trying out some ideas... I have just completed the top.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hZd2DFrv3js/VX4b_Y5Hw2I/AAAAAAAADLs/Rey653ZZWr0/s640/blogger-image-1989687481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hZd2DFrv3js/VX4b_Y5Hw2I/AAAAAAAADLs/Rey653ZZWr0/s640/blogger-image-1989687481.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>In addition to this. I have been working on my NYSSQ blocks and added one. I also found a number of others that I will ale to add to this quilt. The ideas are percolating.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ajQ2NHeCbks/VX4b9zfX3wI/AAAAAAAADLk/jAgABe5TqxY/s640/blogger-image--1515060443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ajQ2NHeCbks/VX4b9zfX3wI/AAAAAAAADLk/jAgABe5TqxY/s640/blogger-image--1515060443.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--N21AzX4C1A/VX4b8rPBoAI/AAAAAAAADLc/fFFwupFC7eU/s640/blogger-image--1915108540.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--N21AzX4C1A/VX4b8rPBoAI/AAAAAAAADLc/fFFwupFC7eU/s640/blogger-image--1915108540.jpg"></a></div>Above are blocks that were given to me.</div><div><br></div><div>I have also been working on my E quilt... And had to get some more blocks.. Thanks Helen and Deborah...Spin have to add a row or two</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q64R6TdWuHQ/VX4cAnPf0FI/AAAAAAAADL0/iUxXIwK5DAk/s640/blogger-image-1153489494.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q64R6TdWuHQ/VX4cAnPf0FI/AAAAAAAADL0/iUxXIwK5DAk/s640/blogger-image-1153489494.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I also had to finish and send off my quilt for the New York Bar Foundations raffle basket. I am a board member and we have 13 baskets for our fundraiser in Cooperstown as well as a ton of items in overflow. We are excited about this endeavor.</div><div><br></div><div>Here is what I made to include. It's called Rose Colored Glasses</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nlpHfOWYDx4/VX4cCGhlGKI/AAAAAAAADL8/5ovdF7RUUPw/s640/blogger-image--1656217500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nlpHfOWYDx4/VX4cCGhlGKI/AAAAAAAADL8/5ovdF7RUUPw/s640/blogger-image--1656217500.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FoELFxwdID8/VX4b7W3klNI/AAAAAAAADLU/3UwuYtZfpYQ/s640/blogger-image-546596160.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FoELFxwdID8/VX4b7W3klNI/AAAAAAAADLU/3UwuYtZfpYQ/s640/blogger-image-546596160.jpg"></a></div><br></div>So off I go... Happy Quilting.</div>Encyclopediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12920824970057038001noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873083164500325599.post-72784783456661578572015-04-14T13:14:00.001-04:002015-04-14T13:23:08.198-04:00Cut it up with Floppy on ToppySoo - okay I wanted to share this...<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My dear friend and Queeps <a href="http://bumblebeansinc.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Victoria</a> has her new sizzix dies available and they are an absolute dream. Now you also know she is Queen of cutting up things that many see as perfectly great tops. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well here is a bit of a peek at my project using her big melon DWR dies.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So yea her theme is cut it up, as seen in the last post, my shirt, tatoos and more.</div>
<div>
And a special shout out to Lisa (the<a href="http://theredheadedmermaid.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> red headed mermaid</a> for use of her humongous sizzix machine.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And the floppy on Toppy is from Victoria's awesome <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxJzj0RS084" target="_blank">sizzix video</a> that shows you how to whip these babies together in a flash... </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ugnVSBfPJN8/VS1Lufflz4I/AAAAAAAADI0/mQOKzyalquw/s640/blogger-image--1321822229.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ugnVSBfPJN8/VS1Lufflz4I/AAAAAAAADI0/mQOKzyalquw/s640/blogger-image--1321822229.jpg" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So I dig this little diddy out and decided... To "Cut It Up".</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">I also had these vintage blocks. I guess originally (some years ago) I had a plan. </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well a trip to Darien and a night of sipping, laughter and some stitching and cutting. I now have this beauty... That I am putting together. And remembering "floppy on Toppy"...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

Away every weekend... Beginning with Quilt Con and bought a new machine and oh so many more distractions.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am hibernating this weekend... So I shall put the frame use on my list of must dos this weekend...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is a pictorial of the past month and change...</div>

And so the quest began.<div><br></div><div>I began researching all of the options, there are a number of frames available for a range of prices. My focus was on space saving and ease of use and set up. </div><div><br></div><div>I found one that I would hope to have at some point. The major problem is that it is not easily storable and requires the consistent space. It also takes over a days worth of set up. So the search continued.</div><div><br></div><div>So I saw a few other possible options, however the reviews and such pushed me away from it..</div><div><br></div><div>Then I saw a blog that features Kenneth Lund's DIY quilt frame. I viewed all of his videos, read the reviews and the price point was on point. Most importantly, it can stow away easily... And with multiple poles to roll your quilts on, the poles can store multiple quilts that are in progress... Therefore score.</div><div><br></div><div>I sent him an email with some questions and he promptly responded. BONUS... And the kit was currently on sale...SUPER BONUS...</div><div><br></div><div>And then it was put together and shipped promptly and arrived in 3 days... It never published...So what have I been up too... Lots.. Well this week my dear friend Victoria (Victoria Findlay Wolfe quilts- sorry can't link from my phone) was supposedly working and ended up making a lovely Christmas quilt... As I saw her post... I just had to see it... Because I have one completed Christmas quilt that had remained on my bed year round... Lol and I have another that was started two years ago that I never completed.. Yes smh. I know.. Finish what I start...<div><br></div><div>So I had an idea..</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-nij0dl6Uq4w/VDsHsMFiWnI/AAAAAAAAC8M/NwEi-9foHfk/s640/blogger-image--1931835414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-nij0dl6Uq4w/VDsHsMFiWnI/AAAAAAAAC8M/NwEi-9foHfk/s640/blogger-image--1931835414.jpg"></a></div> </div><div>And because I needed a bit if push to actually do it.. I called her via our usual FaceTime - </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-337D00womkA/VDsHoaUqDVI/AAAAAAAAC78/E_W0FSBEzoU/s640/blogger-image-1417798505.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-337D00womkA/VDsHoaUqDVI/AAAAAAAAC78/E_W0FSBEzoU/s640/blogger-image-1417798505.jpg"></a></div>Lol... Yes and I was able to get my inspiration and I viewed her studio. She also said I could buy new Christmas fabric... (Enabler. Hehehe)</div><div><br></div><div>So in Friday I went to the City Quilter and picked up some fabric.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-3wj5FbYJDc8/VIZNK7CTJbI/AAAAAAAAC_E/yV15Ly-REFA/s640/blogger-image-1498421461.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-3wj5FbYJDc8/VIZNK7CTJbI/AAAAAAAAC_E/yV15Ly-REFA/s640/blogger-image-1498421461.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>And then Saturday I got started... For more updates be sure to check out my Instagram... It is hard to believe that we are on the fourth round of the original NYC Metro mod Guild Bee...<div><br></div><div>Hmmm I guess I should finish the last few quilts lol.</div><div><br></div><div>So November was Rossanna's month as Queen Bee. She had asked us to save candy wrappers and such for our blocks.</div><div>I am not a big candy eater so I was saving my dark chocolate peanut butter cup foil wrappers. I also ended up using tea wrappers and some chick-o-stick candy wrappers...</div><div><br></div><div>So this is what I came up with. First, I had to figure how to protect the foil and allow for manipulation without it tearing. So I glued and modge podged it to magazine paper.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4CLO7UI1j3w/VIZOOf1TXPI/AAAAAAAAC_8/Z-19jfBJ67Q/s640/blogger-image--1713861142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4CLO7UI1j3w/VIZOOf1TXPI/AAAAAAAAC_8/Z-19jfBJ67Q/s640/blogger-image--1713861142.jpg"></a></div><br></div>And while that was drying... I began working on the tea wrapper flower I got the idea from a DIY I saw on scrap-a-little.com blog... (See link below)</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RZo_Nh4zw28/VIZOF1czyoI/AAAAAAAAC_U/S4qdtWVHm7w/s640/blogger-image-215193049.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RZo_Nh4zw28/VIZOF1czyoI/AAAAAAAAC_U/S4qdtWVHm7w/s640/blogger-image-215193049.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>And this is what it looks like.</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F0sFChnNZhk/VIZOEdqn1WI/AAAAAAAAC_M/7D5p48VwdBY/s640/blogger-image--735770049.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F0sFChnNZhk/VIZOEdqn1WI/AAAAAAAAC_M/7D5p48VwdBY/s640/blogger-image--735770049.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-6VwRIjIUaxg/VIZOHYAZSZI/AAAAAAAAC_c/oZRHuDuJ3tE/s640/blogger-image-322552815.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-6VwRIjIUaxg/VIZOHYAZSZI/AAAAAAAAC_c/oZRHuDuJ3tE/s640/blogger-image-322552815.jpg"></a></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> Then I went ahead with the other block. And see the pics below... I hope she likes it... It was cool to figure out how to make flowers with the wrappers and attach them to the fabric and maintain the shape... Can't wait to see the final.</span></div></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vbrxN7wH6eo/VIZOI-PRXHI/AAAAAAAAC_k/zKVeib6C0Q0/s640/blogger-image--473107444.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vbrxN7wH6eo/VIZOI-PRXHI/AAAAAAAAC_k/zKVeib6C0Q0/s640/blogger-image--473107444.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-0zhTDUJkatg/VIZOK8OH-PI/AAAAAAAAC_s/AF3Hu-V20jg/s640/blogger-image-2081136073.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-0zhTDUJkatg/VIZOK8OH-PI/AAAAAAAAC_s/AF3Hu-V20jg/s640/blogger-image-2081136073.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-USUu2ZITRMo/VIZOMmaWtaI/AAAAAAAAC_0/xm2epqZEoLw/s640/blogger-image--1808774421.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-USUu2ZITRMo/VIZOMmaWtaI/AAAAAAAAC_0/xm2epqZEoLw/s640/blogger-image--1808774421.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://www.scrap-a-little.com/2009/07/dahlia-flower-tutorial.html?m=1">http://www.scrap-a-little.com/2009/07/dahlia-flower-tutorial.html?m=1</a>. </div><div><br></div>Encyclopediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12920824970057038001noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873083164500325599.post-64232148088917039902014-09-13T23:44:00.001-04:002014-09-13T23:47:04.604-04:00Oh boy ... So I have been away from social media during the Lenten season... And so much has happened... <div><br></div><div>First, I realized what a pleasure it was not to be attached to the various social tools. I decided at the last minute to give it up for 40 days. I usually don't participate in lent, but it was interesting to read how difficult it was for so many... So I deleted everything off my phone. However, I still looked at Pinterst occasionally... Lol because I use it for quotes and such.</div><div><br></div><div>Many of my friends had to call or text me to know how I was.. What a concept lol.</div><div><br></div><div>I was also training for the More fitness women's half marathon in Central Park... I realized that it was a time consuming task. I was pulled away from my quilting during these past months because as you progress in mileage, it takes more time. More importantly, you have to take more time in overall fitness and ensure you are stretching and working all the appropriate muscles to avoid injury..</div><div><br></div><div>Anyway.. Sunday April 14, 2014 I completed my first half marathon, hills and all. I finished in 2hrs 47 min and felt wonderful..</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-a_5bJDohRyg/U1hpFrA5NDI/AAAAAAAACow/CZJyGpc-l64/s640/blogger-image-1362762197.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-a_5bJDohRyg/U1hpFrA5NDI/AAAAAAAACow/CZJyGpc-l64/s640/blogger-image-1362762197.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Z_mS9XY2riA/U1hpL3rweCI/AAAAAAAACpQ/A0C_nabi4V4/s640/blogger-image-295258920.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Z_mS9XY2riA/U1hpL3rweCI/AAAAAAAACpQ/A0C_nabi4V4/s640/blogger-image-295258920.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-bmlWErJ9rEo/U1hpJGK33dI/AAAAAAAACpA/yFz8yWZb15o/s640/blogger-image--1318935689.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-bmlWErJ9rEo/U1hpJGK33dI/AAAAAAAACpA/yFz8yWZb15o/s640/blogger-image--1318935689.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-KEQGimhPS74/U1hpNVzSYtI/AAAAAAAACpY/WQcIt7KvatE/s640/blogger-image--248886495.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-KEQGimhPS74/U1hpNVzSYtI/AAAAAAAACpY/WQcIt7KvatE/s640/blogger-image--248886495.jpg"></a></div>And yes I am buying this photo... Lol</div><div><br></div><div>So I was elated, moved, thrilled that I was able to do all the things I said i couldn't do... I can't run more than 15 min straight, I can't run the loop in Central Park, there is no way I can run 2 or 3 hours... And now the loop is my mid week run, and I have run over 10'miles , 5 times so far including the 13.1, and a 12.5 and 10.5's.</div><div><br></div><div>So... Next up is the Brooklyn half marathon in May... </div><div><br></div><div>However, everything happens for a reason... After my run this past Saturday I stopped in a restaurant to grab a bite to eat since I had a golf tee time that afternoon. As I walked in, it was darker than outside and colder, and after a few minutes I got dizzy. (It was around the time of month that my blood sugar and hormones go out of wack). So I placed my order and noticed that I was even more dizzy. So, my last recollection was thinking I should sit on the stool at the counter, and the next thing i knew I was being helped upright and asked if I was okay.</div><div><br></div><div>I also had a sharp pain in the area of my ankle and looked down and saw that it had begun to swell up... After about 20</div><div>Minutes I got up to leave and was in a lot of pain... So I went outside and boy was it bright and I felt weird and was able to get a cab. </div><div><br></div><div>Long story short... I made it home and the swelling went down, I hobbled to dinner later... Drove to play simulation golf the next day, went to brunch... And had no pain... Later that afternoon my ankle swole up much larger than before. So I drove myself to urgent care... Lol</div><div><br></div><div>While there, I had X-rays and was told I fractured my fibula and was not going to be allowed to drive home. I managed to get someone to drive me and the car home, made it to my orthopedist the next day... And now am booted and crutched up..</div><div><br></div><div>I have a golf trip to Puerto Rico planned for this weekend that I can't cancel... So I shall be laying in the sun at the resort working on some hand projects lol...</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-dhZmnDbbkh8/U1hpKebQF0I/AAAAAAAACpI/zUcaEvfO11w/s640/blogger-image-2092742039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-dhZmnDbbkh8/U1hpKebQF0I/AAAAAAAACpI/zUcaEvfO11w/s640/blogger-image-2092742039.jpg"></a></div><div><br></div>Went out to the NYFA gala on Tuesday with Victoria and Michael, I was not missing this event... I was stitching some postage stamps occasionally telling myself that I had to do something. But still nothing moved me. I had three blocks that had to be done. Two bee blocks and one create a block.<div><br></div><div>So I went back and forth, procrastinating, and still nothing. So I said well one is due next week... So start working on the block. I had already created the dimensions etc., I just had to make it up.. So here it is, easy peasy was required. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-xFdusp2fU7A/UtDHVxdIHdI/AAAAAAAACjY/NrilxW7fXHQ/s640/blogger-image-1353385856.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-xFdusp2fU7A/UtDHVxdIHdI/AAAAAAAACjY/NrilxW7fXHQ/s640/blogger-image-1353385856.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">It has to be appliqués the rest if the way done... And I have not decided the orientation as yet. Lol</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Then I did Chrissie's Bee block because it was a no brainer.. She is great with providing instructions etc.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-kTI5jYD1SAY/UtDHQ3BJHuI/AAAAAAAACjA/3UmwZUkzSBY/s640/blogger-image--2002272648.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-kTI5jYD1SAY/UtDHQ3BJHuI/AAAAAAAACjA/3UmwZUkzSBY/s640/blogger-image--2002272648.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-h3xpTO_q8es/UtDHUVj7EcI/AAAAAAAACjQ/1aTsDtP2kT4/s640/blogger-image-784971665.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-h3xpTO_q8es/UtDHUVj7EcI/AAAAAAAACjQ/1aTsDtP2kT4/s640/blogger-image-784971665.jpg"></a></div><br></div>And then there was Rossanna's block. She provided each of is a different word. Of course mine was long... Lol and it was Adventure... So I felt compelled to make a really cool block because she does such great work for <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Everyone else. Smiles. This category required a minimum of four rings... Interpreted any which way you like... So I decided after folks marry and it's cold they nest... Doni call this "NESTING". There is the traditional DWR construction on a 32" scale, trapunto ring, applique ring, and a thread painted ring...<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-nN0eglnPBFc/UpvucXA87HI/AAAAAAAACdg/WJP9mPmP3tA/s640/blogger-image-627328197.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-nN0eglnPBFc/UpvucXA87HI/AAAAAAAACdg/WJP9mPmP3tA/s640/blogger-image-627328197.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6rW8I4K7mqg/UpvuExVNN1I/AAAAAAAACdQ/--EZtS4jMjg/s640/blogger-image--307371043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6rW8I4K7mqg/UpvuExVNN1I/AAAAAAAACdQ/--EZtS4jMjg/s640/blogger-image--307371043.jpg"></a></div><br></div>And I also managed to finish the single ring challenge.</div><div><br></div><div>And I wanted to use shott cottons in solids and do something textures in the middle... <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So my guild has this challenge that has gone international... Of course <a href="http://www.bumblebeansinc.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Victoria</a> is behind it because the challenge is a <a href="http://www.nycmetromodquilters.com/dwr-challenge-2/" target="_blank">Double Wedding Ring</a>.</span></div>

<div>
There are 3 categories: small, traditional and modern. I started a couple and restarted and then designed and started again..</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
So for this one that I shall call "DWR in a Cabin" i will show you my process. I originally had this grand idea to make log cabins and cut them up. However, god was shining on me as I walked intoCity Quilter and saw the fabric. Whew. Thank goodness, because I would never have finished it. Lol</div>

So I made it up to Connecticut Saturday eve because I was out super super late... Managed to remember to pack some clothes and a toothbrush. I had my Juki, two quilts that needed to be sandwiched and basted, and my pattern I created for the modern category of the NYC Mod Double Wedding Ring challenge.</div>

So how many of you procrastinate? Be honest, lmao. How many of you say, oh I will gift something I have already made, only to be creatively inspired to make something for the person... Well, welcome to "quilt racing".</span></div><div><br></div><div>This will be my new term for those last minute projects that must be done in less than three days, when you have to work and go about your normal life as well.</div><div><br></div><div>My cousins son's college quilt was one of those quilt racing times.. And alas "a NY experience" is another such project.</div><div><br></div><div>I decided on Wednesday afternoon to buy fabric for, design and make a quilt that needed to be done by this morning... All while working, attending an event and still waking up for bootcamp at 5:00am. Yeah what was I smoking..</div><div><br></div><div>Anyway here is the project... I saw a quilt and was inspired to use the layout to do my favorite courthouse square/log cabin blocks..however, little did I realize, how many mistakes I would make in the layout and putting together of the top.</div><div><br></div><div>Alas, I prevailed and for the first time ever did not change the design everytime I made a mistake. I ripped and ripped and ripped until it was what I sketched out.</div><div>Yes, I did not wing the mistakes and followed my original sketched and measured design.. Lol</div><div><br></div><div>And eh.. It's not so bad... With the early morning cereal park inspiration for the floral design in variegated thread..</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NVxHDR9oO_w/UnPIPAyO_II/AAAAAAAACX0/BF4-Z3lGja8/s640/blogger-image--1465823196.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NVxHDR9oO_w/UnPIPAyO_II/AAAAAAAACX0/BF4-Z3lGja8/s640/blogger-image--1465823196.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-EFncYrv3Jw0/UnPIDcM46oI/AAAAAAAACXc/Wj5O0aVMWLQ/s640/blogger-image--1048873636.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-EFncYrv3Jw0/UnPIDcM46oI/AAAAAAAACXc/Wj5O0aVMWLQ/s640/blogger-image--1048873636.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2nBANmBYHfw/UnPIG9c84II/AAAAAAAACXk/bH-651DIYPQ/s640/blogger-image-293885559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2nBANmBYHfw/UnPIG9c84II/AAAAAAAACXk/bH-651DIYPQ/s640/blogger-image-293885559.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-25wbBcFnsn0/UnPIaQX5NTI/AAAAAAAACYM/tkAPQ8fKlrg/s640/blogger-image--243574068.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-25wbBcFnsn0/UnPIaQX5NTI/AAAAAAAACYM/tkAPQ8fKlrg/s640/blogger-image--243574068.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ty_O0Lk13vs/UnPITJ-Dy8I/AAAAAAAACX8/ivMshWoWbKk/s640/blogger-image-875464811.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ty_O0Lk13vs/UnPITJ-Dy8I/AAAAAAAACX8/ivMshWoWbKk/s640/blogger-image-875464811.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iQrFmf7X3XI/UnPILVa-blI/AAAAAAAACXs/lLj0dXOXmT0/s640/blogger-image--1985379070.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iQrFmf7X3XI/UnPILVa-blI/AAAAAAAACXs/lLj0dXOXmT0/s640/blogger-image--1985379070.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TyQXDCAXuKE/UnPId8dIjjI/AAAAAAAACYU/OEgt8zmizRo/s640/blogger-image-469637945.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TyQXDCAXuKE/UnPId8dIjjI/AAAAAAAACYU/OEgt8zmizRo/s640/blogger-image-469637945.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ho2aBiD2DTU/UnPIWjaekqI/AAAAAAAACYE/wP44O_gjv8o/s640/blogger-image--182650589.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ho2aBiD2DTU/UnPIWjaekqI/AAAAAAAACYE/wP44O_gjv8o/s640/blogger-image--182650589.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I will post another pic after it is dried... UNCLE!!!! I Give up. It all began with the dreaded iron. That extra step that I avoided with all that I possessed. Then, while at Quilting By the Lake, I realized the benefit in ironing my seams as I went along.<div><br></div><div>So, return I did, and new irons were bought. Iron then became a part of my quilting process with each seam.. Not just at the end.</div><div><br></div><div>Now while working on these blocks, half square triangles etc...I decided to still wing it a bit. I thought I was doing something by making the parts larger and then trimming the final block parts down to size... Still no consistency.</div><div><br></div><div>Then someone posted a piece on gettin accurate points... It involved, accurate block pieces, accurate 1/4 inch markings and pinning. I saved it after I read it and laughed and said the force would have to be strong in me to do all those steps... Lol</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4-Qw0j9cDDY/UjfMGHnz7YI/AAAAAAAACQc/kzDXSjVmKBM/s640/blogger-image--297913584.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4-Qw0j9cDDY/UjfMGHnz7YI/AAAAAAAACQc/kzDXSjVmKBM/s640/blogger-image--297913584.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">And then I thought... What would Yoda say... "DO or DO NOT, there is NO TRY!!! And alas I realized that either I would strive for matched points and precision pieces or I would not. I would cease tryin to wing it.. For there is no TRY...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So a couple of days ago, I trimmed all my pieces square to the right size and ironed them. (Trimming each piece was new). I even double checked my 1/4 inch on my machine with the ruler thing that allows the needle through the hole.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Then this eve, I pinned the half square pieces etc according to the recommendations in the posting. I did do some last week. But that's on the back burner now.. Lol<div><br></div><div>But I did finish Deirdre's July Block.. An improv on Klimt's "Kiss".</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z2WY2rknHpc/Uhv_q_N4bkI/AAAAAAAACN0/rGKhqS6yTgM/s640/blogger-image--143847818.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z2WY2rknHpc/Uhv_q_N4bkI/AAAAAAAACN0/rGKhqS6yTgM/s640/blogger-image--143847818.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Ha at first I thought she wanted us to duplicate the block in some form. So I began there and then re-read the instructions and realized she wanted us to make something that inspired us.</div><div><br></div><div>I had a number if thoughts and ideas. I noticed that other bee folks focused on the Mondrian type style. I was drawn to the circles.. Probably because Emily's August block was all about circles. So I went on this portion of the picture.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8Xh2fVbuv_Y/Uhv_t461NDI/AAAAAAAACN8/8u19gKXVGBw/s640/blogger-image--683535351.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8Xh2fVbuv_Y/Uhv_t461NDI/AAAAAAAACN8/8u19gKXVGBw/s640/blogger-image--683535351.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So I began my uncircular circles... I did not want them to be proper and round because that is not how I saw the image I has in mind.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I freaked out and reached out to Deirdre to ensure that she would like my block, prior to my hand appliqué work. Lol. Fortunately, she did. Here is my finished block. note I had intended on making the block circular-ish. However I decided to leave that up to the Queen bee. Smiles</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-W4BwBMHrOA8/Uhv_nKrwRWI/AAAAAAAACNs/cLVNns5glHM/s640/blogger-image-299973360.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-W4BwBMHrOA8/Uhv_nKrwRWI/AAAAAAAACNs/cLVNns5glHM/s640/blogger-image-299973360.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ag-hf4C-nUE/Uhv_kEMJpcI/AAAAAAAACNk/tAM68hipdgI/s640/blogger-image--507705482.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ag-hf4C-nUE/Uhv_kEMJpcI/AAAAAAAACNk/tAM68hipdgI/s640/blogger-image--507705482.jpg"></a></div><br></div><br></div><br></div>Encyclopediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12920824970057038001noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873083164500325599.post-54113520023878394602013-08-22T12:07:00.001-04:002013-08-22T12:10:03.206-04:00New techniques - new for meSo my bee block for August was circles galore. I did a search and found a technique from HGTV... On how to make circles with freezer paper etc. Video: <div><a href="http://www.hgtv.com/video/easy-circle-quilt-blocks-video/index.html">http://www.hgtv.com/video/easy-circle-quilt-blocks-video/index.html</a></div><div><br></div><div>Here is my attempt... Caveat: I believe it was designed for individual circles and not the multitude that I created from one freezer paper sheet... But it was not too bad. I had to cover up some treats with Misty Fuse and another circle lol...</div><div><br></div><div>I hope Emily likes it...</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S9RNmtzpHFM/UhY20qgjLgI/AAAAAAAACL0/q0fxAxjj1K4/s640/blogger-image-18629988.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S9RNmtzpHFM/UhY20qgjLgI/AAAAAAAACL0/q0fxAxjj1K4/s640/blogger-image-18629988.jpg"></a></div> All of my circles drawn and cut out from the freezer paper and ironed on to my background fabric.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-F0cMhTjZOd4/UhY25dHqHYI/AAAAAAAACL8/BoIvQ4vH3ko/s640/blogger-image-8862417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-F0cMhTjZOd4/UhY25dHqHYI/AAAAAAAACL8/BoIvQ4vH3ko/s640/blogger-image-8862417.jpg"></a></div>The right side up, cut out...</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-VHNDeNz-Rfg/UhY3O6Zv_FI/AAAAAAAACMc/ep9XGbFzUKg/s640/blogger-image-1331755604.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-VHNDeNz-Rfg/UhY3O6Zv_FI/AAAAAAAACMc/ep9XGbFzUKg/s640/blogger-image-1331755604.jpg"></a></div>The wrong side clipped and glued down as per the instructions. The other fabric is placed over this with some glue.. This is why I believe it was intended for one at a time.. It got a bit crowded and messy.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-C1aqLpsUJlw/UhY3EupLxOI/AAAAAAAACMM/hKxEV62YGlQ/s640/blogger-image--1389385449.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-C1aqLpsUJlw/UhY3EupLxOI/AAAAAAAACMM/hKxEV62YGlQ/s640/blogger-image--1389385449.jpg"></a></div> You are suppose to remove the freezer paper once you attach the color square... It plops out (allegedly) lol. And then you see around the edge on the wrong side.. The spokes are glued to the colored circle and you stitch around.</div><div><br></div><div>I had to top stitch some.. Anyway here is my final.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-gWQpRgUPh7U/UhY2_T85ffI/AAAAAAAACME/ix2nlg5r-qc/s640/blogger-image--1208132598.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-gWQpRgUPh7U/UhY2_T85ffI/AAAAAAAACME/ix2nlg5r-qc/s640/blogger-image--1208132598.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-W1dOw4NftKc/UhY3J9ld1rI/AAAAAAAACMU/3jKyNbYyop4/s640/blogger-image-1758651131.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-W1dOw4NftKc/UhY3J9ld1rI/AAAAAAAACMU/3jKyNbYyop4/s640/blogger-image-1758651131.jpg"></a></div><br></div>Encyclopediahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12920824970057038001noreply@blogger.com0
